The fifth Yama is Aparigraha, which means non-hoarding or non-attachment – simply ‘letting go’. Training ourselves to live as simple a life as possible allows us to be free from feelings of loss, lack, and to live toward a life without an attachment to ‘things’ or outcomes. This allows us to be filled with gratitude for who we are and what we have right now. What we try to posses, possesses us.
This week, notice if you impose undue expectations on others, look at the physical things you own or want in your life and see if they make you feel heavy and weighed down or light and free. Remember, everything we really ‘need’ is already within us.
